The Tesla Powerwall is for home energy storage and stores electricity for solar self-consumption, time of use load shifting, backup power, and off-the-grid use. On a typical day, the Tesla Powerwall and solar will meet all of your home’s energy needs. When the grid goes down, solar energy will continue to power your home and charge your Tesla Powerwall for up to 7 days.
As with other energy storage products, the Tesla battery pack is sized for day-to-day use and is usually paired with a solar panel system. When your solar panels produce more electricity than you can use in your home, the excess is stored in the battery pack instead of being sent back into the electric grid. Later, when your panels aren’t producing enough electricity, you can use the electricity stored in your Powerwall instead of having to buy it from your energy company.
On a typical day, Powerwall and solar will meet all of your home’s energy needs.

How does Powerwall work with your Solar Panels?
We can install Powerwall alongside any new or existing Solar PV installation for your home or business.
When the sun is high in the sky and your solar panels are producing more electricity than you can use, the surplus energy is stored in your Tesla Battery. As the sun goes down and your solar panel production decreases, you draw on the electricity that you stored during the sunniest part of the day. Essentially, the Powerwall helps you balance out your electricity production and usage over the course of the day.
Current sensors control the battery and tell it when to charge and discharge. The components you require will depend on how you use your Powerwall battery and in some backup applications, a secondary circuit may be required that powers key appliances.
